Experimentation on the Live Network

In the early days of NRENs, before the the Internet needed to be always on, there was a little more scope for trying out new things on a production network. These days such chances are few and far between as users will (understandably) not brook any interruption to their service. This lightning talk aims to briefly describe an experimental HEAnet Network Operations project, the reasons behind it and how we we took it from the test lab and onto a client site with their full knowledge and approval.
