Multimedia Transport Protocols for WebRTC

The Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) project will provide native support for real-time audio/video conferencing in web browsers, with a simple JavaScript API to enable rapid application development. It is being jointly developed by the World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). This talk will review the protocol framework underlying WebRTC, and outline the challenges in building adaptive transport protocols for conversational multimedia. It will focus in particular on congestion control issues, and how to ensure WebRTC can be safely deployed without causing undue network congestion.
